1. What is HCG and how does it work?
According to Dr. Simeons research hCG is naturally produced in the female body during pregnancy.  It has many functions and is used medically to treat a variety of conditions.  It contains 237 amino acids. It allows the body to metabolize fat and use it as energy for both mother and fetus.  This acts as a "fail safe" mechanism when energy is needed immediately.  For weight loss, only a very small homeopathic amount of hCG is used to capitalize on this same mechanism.

2. If HCG works so well for weight loss, why don't pregnant women lose weight?
HCG works to mobilize fat for utilization by the body only when there is a significant decrease in calories and fat.  For weight loss, a very low calorie diet to trigger HCG to help rid the body of fat is necessary.

3. Will my metabolism slow down if I'm on a very low calorie diet?
Normally when one cuts back calories and fat, the body stores fat, compromises muscle and bone, and metabolism slows down. This happens because fat is really a life-saving source of stored energy. However, Dr. Simeons proved that when a very low calorie diet is used in conjunction with the HCG, the hormone signals the body to use stored fat for energy. This in turn, decreases excess fat reserves and does not compromise muscle. It's a natural process, so no ill effects on metabolism should result.

4. Where is the actual HCG manufactured and what are the quality control guidelines?
The HCG that we distribute is manufactured by a certified laboratory in the United States.  It is not produced in a foreign country where the quality or source may be questionable.

5. Can I wear makeup?
No lotions, moisturizers or liquid make-ups with oil.  HCG is very sensitive to oils, creams and fats. These could slow the weight loss process down; you only want it to target your stored fat. You can use any mineral makeup or pressed powders and of course oil free foundations are fine. Other eye makeups and lipstick are fine. Stay away from lip glosses and Chapstick.  We recommend the oil free lotions  formulated by Dr. Beth Golden
, a naturapathoic doctor in Florida who also formulated hCG MAX.

6. Will HCG interfere with any medications I am currently taking, including birth control and HRT?
It is always wise to consult a health practitioner if you are on medication or have medical concerns.Females taking unopposed synthetic estrogens should investigate a Bio-Identical hormone program with a qualified practitioner.

7.How much weight can I expect to lose on the program?
Most people will lose 15-30lbs on the 26 day program. Everyone is different. It depends on many factors including how much excess weight you have and how much needs to be lost. Often, people lose 7-14 lbs in the first week.

8. The HCG diet is very low calorie, will I get hungry?
Because HCG mobilizes fat and makes it available to the body as an energy source, it naturally reduces appetite. Even though people are taking in fewer calories, the body can access the energy stored in fat cells. After about 2 days, many people notice a significant decrease in their appetite. Overall, most people have plenty of energy and feel good while on the program. For people who have continued hunger, it is generally either low blood sugar or yeast overgrowth issues.  Drinking green tea helps as a natural appetite suppressant and maintaining your energy level.  Stevia is great if you like it sweeter.

9. Wouldn't I lose the same amount of weight eating a very low calorie diet without HCG?
You can lose weight simply by eating fewer calories and fat, but because the body stores fat during times of deprivation, you will most likely lose muscle and bone before fat. This causes cellular metabolism to slow down, so in the long run, it would make gaining weight easier, as well as decrease bone density and muscle mass. By using HCG with the low calorie diet, extra fat is mobilized for energy and the rest is eliminated; the low calorie diet is vital in preventing immediate refilling of emptied fat cells.  You benefit by preferentially getting rid of excess fat without effecting your bone and muscle.

 10. Is it ok to skip a meal or protein at one of my meals?
No - you don't ever want to skip any of your meals. Its important to eat all of the recommended food and especially your protein so that you only lose fat and not muscle.

11. Can I exercise daily?
Exercise is not necessary.  If you must exercise, low key exercise is best. You can do about 20 min. of walking a day and a few sit ups or push ups if you feel that is needed. Exercise burns calories and therefore causes your hunger to increase. The combination of low calorie intake and exercise could cause your body to go into starvation mode. This can negatively impact your stamina and commitment to the diet. So take it easy. And remember, you will be losing fat. So when you do go back to the gym, it's a skinner, more energetic you!

12. Do I have to take vitamins while doing this diet?
You should take B12 everyday. The B TOTAL Sublingual is the recommended B supplement because it is in liquid form and is absorbed right in your system. This supplement is as potent as a B12 shot from the doctors office. This will increase energy and increase your metabolism. Also a good multi vitamin helps, make sure it is sugar free and has no fat soluble ingredients like fish oils or vitamin D.  Potassium is also good especially if you experience leg cramps (which can be common while on this diet).  Calcium/magnesium combo is also a good one to take if needed.

13. Is it normal to get a headache during the first week?
Some people may experience light headaches during the first week, this is because your body is releasing fat cells very rapidly and you will be going through a major detox. Taking a detox during the diet is recommended.

14. Can I take the spray longer if I want to keep losing weight?
Yes!  According to Dr. Simeons protocol (page 18 Duration of Treatment) the maximum you can take hCG is up to 40 days if you have not lost 34lbs. It is also recommended that you wait six weeks before starting another round on hCG, in order to make sure your body doesn't become immune to the HCG, 20 days is the shortest amount of days and 40 is the longest you should do the spray.  Just remember the last 3 days of your plan is no sprays while continuing to diet for 3 days until the HCG is flushed out of your body before going into maintenance.  Exercise is encouraged once you start maintenance and are back to a 1500-1700 calorie diet.

15. Can you split up your fruits and eat them when you want?
Yes, you can eat them for breakfast or as a snack. Many people don't eat them with their meals, so they will have a snack when they feel hungry. You get 2 fruits a day.

16. Can I Drink Alcohol on the HCG Diet?
According to Dr. Simeons protocol (page 31 & 32) it has been found that some HCG users whom have been drinkers or even those that are borderline alcoholic, do surprisingly well on the HCG diet.  If the simple instructions are followed correctly, the HCG diet will get them out of their drinking routine. .
so drinking alchohol is discouraged.

Three Kinds of Fat

In the human body we can distinguish three kinds of fat.

The first is the structural fat which fills the gaps between various organs, a sort of packing material. Structural fat also performs such important functions as bedding the kidneys in soft elastic tissue, protecting the coronary arteries and keeping the skin smooth and taut. It also provides the springy cushion of hard fat under the bones of the feet, without which we would be unable to walk.

The second type of fat is a  normal reserve of fuel upon which the body can freely draw when the nutritional income from the intestinal tract is insufficient to meet the demand. Such normal reserves are localized all over the body. Fat is a substance which packs the highest caloric value into the smallest space so that normal reserves of fuel for muscular activity and the maintenance of body temperature can be most economically stored in this form. Both these types of fat, structural and reserve, are normal, and even if the body stocks them to capacity this can never be called obesity.

But there is a third type of fat which is entirely abnormal. It is the accumulation of such fat, and of such fat only, from which the overweight patient suffers. This abnormal fat is also a potential reserve of fuel, but unlike the normal reserves it is not available to the body in a nutritional emergency.  It is, so to speak, locked away in a fixed deposit and is not kept in a current account, as are the normal reserves.

When an obese patient tries to reduce by starving himself, he will first lose his normal fat reserves.  When these are exhausted he begins to burn up structural fat, and only as a last resort will the body yield its abnormal reserves, though by that time the patient usually feels so weak and hungry that the diet is abandoned. It is just for this reason that obese patients complain that when they diet they lose the wrong fat.  They feel famished and tired and their face becomes drawn and haggard, but their belly, hips, thighs and upper arms show little improvement. The fat they have come to detest stays on and the fat they need to cover their bones gets less and less.  Their skin wrinkles and they look old and miserable.  And that is one of the most frustrating and depressing experiences a human being can have.

Note: Homeotherapeutic HCG contains the "Magnetic Energy Signature" of HCG.  Therefore, KEEP AWAY FROM ALL SOURCES OF ELECTROMAGNETIC RADIATION, including loudspeakers, computer monitors, televisions, ovens, refrigerators, microwave ovens, etc.

Maintenance
Remember, the goal during this phase is to maintain your new weight loss, not to lose more weight.  If you have more weight to lose, you can do another round in 6 weeks. (Or longer, if this is not your 1st round).
A summary of Dr. Simeons' maintenance phase:
Eat what you want, when you want, except no sugars and no starches.  Weigh every day.  If you are 2 or more pounds over your weight at the end of your diet, perform a Steak Day*.
*Steak Day: Skip breakfast and lunch, but take plenty to drink.  In the evening, eat a huge steak with only an apple or a raw tomato.
You should review advice from Dr. Simeons' manuscript as you near the end of the 500 calorie phase, particularly the following paragraphs: Concluding a Course; Skipping a Meal; Trouble after Treatment; Beware of Over Enthusiasm; and Protein Deficiency.
